Sharmila is a Chartered Accountant qualified in 2002. She is also Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) and holds certification in IFRS from ICAI

With over 18 years of professional experience in Audit and Finance, Sharmila is in Bahrain since 2005 and since then worked in Insurance and Finance industry at different position like Internal Audit Manager, Group Finance Manager, etc. and is currently working as Manager - Internal Audit & Risk Advisory at Protiviti Bahrain

She served in the Executive Committee of BCICAI in 2015-16 and was the Joint Treasurer of the Chapter for the year 2016-17, Secretary for 2020-21 and Vice-Chairperson for 2021-22. She was also appointed Auditor for BCICAI for 2019-20 and C2A Toastmaster Club for 2019-20 and 2020-21. She is member of C2A Toastmasters Club and was a part of the women's BCICAI team which conducts separate CPE programs for women members in Bahrain.

Other than being a proud CA, she takes pride in being called the wife of Mr. Prashant Gandhi, who is the Group IT Manager of BPC Group and mother of 11 year old son, Isshan Gandhi.

Sharmila is a trained Kathak Dancer and one area that truly makes her heart flutter is home decorating. She finds peace in gardening and considers it as her stress buster. She is also passionate about anything where she can give back to the profession and society and help others. She firmly believes that when women support each other, incredible things happen.


Sthanumurthy Viswanathan is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with over 20 years of experience with various roles in Accounts, Audit & Finance with reputed companies in India and the Middle East.

Sthanumurthy has been a resident of Bahrain since 2007 and an active member of the BCICAI over the years.

He served in the Executive Committee of BCICAI in 2015-16, 2017-18, was the Joint Secretary of the Chapter for the year 2018-19 and Secretary of the Chapter for the year 2021-22.

He is a voracious reader and likes philosophical books in particular.


Striving to live life to the fullest, a strong supporter in conserving nature and an avid traveler, Nisha has been a resident in this beautiful island of Bahrain for over 2 decades.

A Chartered Accountant by profession with more than 20 years of expertise in the field of Statutory Audit, Internal Audit, Financial Accounting and Controls, Policy Framework and Compliance. She also holds International Diploma in Compliance Governance and Risk, UK. Currently, she heads the Compliance Function in Euronet Middle East.

Proud to be the first female to hold the position of Joint Secretary of BCICAI for the year 2016-17, Nisha has been an active member of BCICAI for almost 15 years, serving in the Executive Committee of BCICAI in 2015-16 and has been part of various sub-committees of BCICAI over the years. She has been actively involved with WICAB, an exclusive women CA wing of BCICAI.

She is part of the organizing committee of Srinkhala – a platform to bring people and art together in Bahrain. Nisha is a founding member of women only C2A Toastmasters Club in Bahrain and was the part of the first Executive Committee holding the position of Secretary in 2019-2020 and Vice President-Public Relations in 2020-21. Being passionate to explore new avenues, she was part of the Guinness Book of World Records for making the world’s biggest crochet blanket.


Proud to be an active member of Bahrain Chapter of ICAI and Treasurer for the year 2022-23, in addition to being an active member of ICAB Toastmasters Club under the patronage of BCICAI, wherein Clifford is in the Executive committee as Vice President Education for the year 2022-23. Clifford has been in Bahrain for 2 decades working in Asia Jewellers BSC (C ) as Finance Manager.


Ekansh, an experienced VAT advisor, has extensive experience in VAT implementation, compliance and advisory matters. Before joining KPMG, he worked for a boutique international tax consulting firm where he was the lead manager on over 50 VAT implementation projects across Bahrain, UAE and KSA. Prior to that he worked with the number one ranked indirect tax law firm in India in their GST advisory and litigation team.

Ekansh's deep technical knowledge has been enhanced by his study of UK & EU VAT and Australian, Malaysian and Singapore GST laws. He is an avid writer and frequent speaker on tax matters.

He has provided end-to-end VAT/ GST support to clients in a diverse range of sectors including financial services, insurance, FMCG, oil & gas, real estate, construction, automobile and transportation. He has also worked on tax due diligence and review assignments to identify gaps in processes and recommend tax effective solutions to clients.

He has also supported clients on CbCR, withholding tax and corporate tax matters in the GCC and in India.

Ekansh is an Indian Chartered Accountant and an executive committee member of the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is also an active member of KPMG Toastmasters and ICAB Toastmasters clubs in Bahrain.


Flenil D'Souza is a Chartered Accountant, a Toastmaster and a Blogger. Besides CA, he also has a Master’s Degree in Commerce and a certificate course in Mathematics of investment.

He is a passionate public speaker and has been active with Toastmasters since 2015 and is the current President of KPMG Bahrain Toasmasters and the Vice President PR of ICAB Toastmasters in the ongoing term.

He is also passionate about food, travel and investing and is the chief editor for his blogs yourrichfreedom.com & simplefoodreviews.com; and shares like content on his YouTube channel.

He is currently working at KPMG Bahrain in the Finance Department. As part of professional competence, Flenil has worked as a Financial Controller and has handled the Finance Controllership Function covering Accounting, Reporting, Risks and Controls, Business Processes, Internal Audit, Taxation, Project Costing and Budgeting. He is also Experienced with Implementing ERPs and Organizational Transformation with Change Management across Finance, HR, Procurement and support departments. He has also played a key role for implementation of GST, GST Audits and GST consulting during his tenure in India and has also handled key client audits of Banks (SBI Bank, IDBI bank, Corporation bank), Educational institutions (NITK), IT companies, Construction and Manufacturing clients. He has also been exposed to the Indian Income tax and the erstwhile Service Tax and State VAT. He has also taken sessions on GST and Audit Compliances at CA national conferences and colleges.

Having been part of the Executive Committee in the previous year, he is even more adamant and inspired to support the chapter to bring out the best for our dear members.


Shribharathi Maheshkumar is a CA employed with Batelco as Specialized Audit Manager. She has over 14 years of experience in Internal Audit, risk management, Forensic and fraud investigations. She is also a qualified CIA and a Quality Assurance professional (QAIP). Her experience spans across various industries including, manufacturing, finance and telecom among others. She was part of the Excom of the BCICAI during CA Shaukat's term. Passionate about music she believes in the motto that Life is only as good as your mindset.


Sumeet Khopkar is a Chartered Accountant, qualified in the year 2006, he began his career at Price Waterhouse with their Mumbai Practice.

In his 7 years with Price Waterhouse, Sumeet has gained varied experience of auditing various multinational companies in sectors ranging FMCG, Chemical and Pharmaceutical, Technology and Media, Shipping and Healthcare.

He has been a member of BCICAI since 2013. He is currently working as Finance Manager with Texel Air WLL which is into cargo aviation and is very passionate about the aviation industry.

Sumeet likes to travel and play cricket at any given time and place.


Abhishek Gupta is a qualified Chartered Accountant and currently engaged in providing consultancy services to clients situated in Middle East and India.

Abhishek possesses the proficiency knowledge in Risk Management & Analysis, Executive Management Reporting Processes, Capital Planning, Trend Forecasting, IFRS & Ind AS Implementation, Financial Feasibility and Cross border transaction advisory.


Aswathy Udayarajan is a senior Audit and Risk management professional with more than 18 years of progressive experience in Banking, Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas industries. Her core competencies include Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics, Compliance and Policy frameworks.

Aswathy is a Chartered Accountant (CA, ICAI), and certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM, GARP). She is certified in Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR, GARP), Forensic Accounting & Fraud prevention (ICAI) and also has completed Certified Information Systems Audit (ISACA) and Level 1 of Certified Financial Analyst program.

In her free time she enjoys gardening, painting, baking and reading. She is also a keen member of a volunteer group supporting special needs children and their families.


Ankush is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant with post qualification experience of 7 years. He started his career with a mid sized audit firm in Ludhiana where he trained and handled Auditing, Management Consultancy and Taxation assignments across clients in Manufacturing, Trading and Financial Sector.

He moved to Bahrain in 2016 where he joined American Mission Hospital as Finance Manager and has been part of the group ever since. Currently he is also the Director of Business Development for the hospital and is a key part of the management team.

He is a sports enthusiast and an avid reader. He likes traveling and exploring new places.
